It warms my heart to see a comedy actor make a dramatic turn like Jim Carrey in "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" or Robin Williams in "Good Will Hunting". What makes me happier? Seeing a dramatic actor make fun of their own image, a la Tom Cruise in his scene-stealing cameo in "Tropic Thunder".
But nothing is more shocking than for an old thespian to play for laughs:
